Among other awards, the event will honor Pamela B. Strobel (Arts Advocate Award), Homer Hans Bryant (Arts Legend Award) and Dance for Life (Special Recognition Award).

The Signature Theatre (of Arlington, VA) has commissioned a new musical by Adam Guettel for its 2011-2012 season, as part of its American Musical Voices Project. One of my favorite theatre composers, Guettel’s previous works include The Light in the Piazza (which debuted at the Goodman Theatre) and Floyd Collins. Past composers who have received commissions also include Michael John LaChiusa, Ricky Ian Gordon, and Joseph Thalken.
