News: Project 891 Announces Third Season (Project 891 Theatre Company)

Homefront, Our Leading Lady and WTC View
on the docket for Project 891

Project 891 Theatre Co. announces its 2011-2012 season featuring 2 Chicago premiers that ask the question: “How do we redefine normal after a national tragedy?”.

The season will open with Project 891 presenting a one-night-only performance of an original script, Homefront, in conjunction with the DCA Incubator Series on October 24th. Homefront is written and directed by Artistic Director Ron Popp and deals with a Southern, rural family with a son serving in Afghanistan.

For the first full-run show of the season, Project 891 will be producing Our Leading Lady by Charles Bush, directed by Artistic Associate Michael Rashid, opening Friday November 4th at City Lit Theater. Our Leading Lady follows the adventures of a group of actors, led by famed thespian Laura Keene, rehearsing for a performance at Ford’s Theatre in Washington DC on April 14, 1865. President Lincoln is rumored to be in the audience! What could possibly go wrong? Our Leading Lady will run Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30PM and Sundays at 2PM, November 4th through December 4th.

Then to close out the season, Michael Rashid will direct WTC View by Brian Sloan in spring 2012 (space TBA and rights pending). Eric’s ad for a roommate to help him afford his post-boyfriend NYC rent appears in the Village Voice on September 11th, 2001. It’s main selling point? A view of the World Trade Center.

Cast and designer information TBD.
